How Can You Keep Your Indoor Garbage Can Clean and Odor-Free?

If you live in a small apartment with limited counter space, your indoor garbage can is probably already taking up too much room. And if you don't have access to an outdoor trash bin, it's even more important to keep your indoor garbage can as clean and odor-free as possible. That's why we've put together this list of ways to clean and deodorize your indoor garbage can so that it doesn't smell—and so that it doesn't stink up your entire apartment!
Baking soda is a great household cleaner, and it can be used to clean your garbage can as well. Simply sprinkle baking soda over the bottom of your garbage can and let it sit for an hour or so before wiping away any residue with a damp cloth. You should do this once every two weeks or so, depending on how often you use your indoor garbage can (for example, if you only take out trash once per week).
Baking soda is also useful for keeping odors at bay when used in conjunction with vinegar or lemon juice (or both!). Just pour 1/4 cup of either into an open container of water and add some drops from an essential oil bottle--lavender works well--and then pour this mixture into your outdoor bin when changing its liner each week. This will keep pests away while making sure that no one complains about smells emanating from their neighbor's yard!
You can clean your garbage can with vinegar and lemon juice. Mix 1 cup of white vinegar, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, and 1 gallon (3.8 liters) of water in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture on the inside of your garbage can and let it sit for 5 minutes before rinsing with water and drying off with a paper towel. This will remove any odors from inside your trashcan without leaving any harsh chemicals behind to irritate your hands when you touch it later on!
Essential oils are natural and safe, so they're a great choice for cleaning up your indoor garbage can. They can be used as disinfectants, deodorizers, and insect repellents--all without harsh chemicals or toxins. You simply add them to water and then spray the solution onto surfaces you want to clean. For example:
If you want an all-purpose cleaner for a trash bin or outside garbage cans (or even inside ones), try adding 10 drops of lavender essential oil per cup of water in a spray bottle; shake well before each use! This mixture will help keep things smelling fresh while removing germs at the same time!
Coffee grounds are a natural deodorizer. Next time you brew up a pot of coffee, don't throw away those used grounds! Instead, place them in an airtight container and keep them in your refrigerator or freezer until you need them. You can also add the coffee grounds directly into your garbage can as an odor absorber if it starts to smell bad--the strong scent of coffee will help mask any unpleasant smells coming from inside the can.
Coffee grounds are also effective at keeping pests away from your indoor garbage cans; ants hate the smell of coffee beans and won't go near them! So if ants have been making their way into one of your kitchen cabinets where there's food waste being stored (and therefore attracting insects), try sprinkling some fresh-brewed java on top--you'll be surprised how quickly those little guys run away!
